Acquisitions

I work with private clients at a variety of budgets to build collections of modern and contemporary art, identifying opportunities for purchase, both at galleries and at auction.

Drawing upon networks and knowledge built over decades in the art world, I advocate on behalf of my clients, opening access to key works of art. I advise my clients in making choices that are both consistent with their collecting goals and sound from a financial standpoint.

Daily analysis of the art market has given me a clear sense of market trajectories, timing, and best practices for acquiring art. My background as an art historian allows me to situate contemporary art within a larger historical context, and to bring that insight to building collections.

I also advise on a range of logistical aspects of art collection, such as framing, shipping, and conservation. My background as a studio artist affords insight into material matters, which I bring to my art advisory.

I have advised private clients on transactions involving a range of artists, from notable postwar figures such as Romare Bearden, Ben Enwonwu, Sam Gilliam, James Rosenquist, and Andy Warhol to leading contemporary artists such as Tunji Adeniyi-Jones, Njideka Akunyili-Crosby, Danielle Mckinney, Elizabeth Peyton, and Zhang Enli to more newly emerging artists such as Heather Day, Yuan Fang, Julia Jo, and Collins Objiaku.
