Sales
Collectors may wish to sell works to release liquidity for new purchases, sometimes changing the emphasis of a collection. Others look to sell for different reasons. Regardless of the purpose of the sale, as an advisor, I help deliver results, whether at auction or privately, identifying optimal venues and timing, negotiating on my clients’ behalf for favorable consignment terms, and generally guiding sellers through the process, helping to make it as profitable, efficient, and stress-free as possible.
I solicit competing sales proposals, as appropriate, consulting with my clients on the relative strengths of the available opportunities to arrive at decisions that work best for their given circumstances. My longstanding relationships with the major auction houses and galleries enable me to secure preferential terms and strong results for my selling clients.
I have advised private clients on transactions involving a range of artists, from notable postwar figures such as Romare Bearden, Ben Enwonwu, Sam Gilliam, James Rosenquist, and Andy Warhol to leading contemporary artists such as Tunji Adeniyi-Jones, Njideka Akunyili-Crosby, Danielle Mckinney, Elizabeth Peyton, and Zhang Enli to more newly emerging artists such as Heather Day, Yuan Fang, Julia Jo, and Collins Obijiaku.
